Weekend in Invermere + Copper Point Resort| BC Field Trip
Recently, my hubby + I had the opportunity to take off on a roundtrip Banff + Kootenay’s Roadtrip. Guys, It was incredible. One of my favourite parts of the whole trip was our weekend in Invermere, which I admit, was kind of surprising.
Seriously, why did it take us so long to do this road trip?!
Where’d we go? We visited Revelstoke, Emerald Lake, Lake Louise, Banff, Invermere, Osoyoos, and the finally back home to Hope. I’ll be writing posts on each leg of the trip as I go, butttttttt in true Shannon fashion, it’ll most likely be all out of order #becauselife.
Leaving for the trip, I knew one thing. This gal was hitting up at least one Hot Springs.
Since a friend of mine recommended Invermere, it was the first place I started to look. This little town is located smack dab between Radium Hot Springs and Fairmont Hot Springs. It’s perfect because it allowed me to procrastinate on deciding which hot springs to go to (lol). Decision fatigue is real y’all.
Naturally, I used the google to do a little research. And I found our own little gem that we won’t soon forget.
Enter the Copper Point Resort just outside of Invermere.
Everything about this hotel (and the town) totally surprised us – in the best of ways.
We checked into Copper Point after SUCH A LONG day. We left Emerald Lake around 8:00am, travelled to (and explored) Lake Louise then Banff, and then finally to Invermere. I’ll cover Emerald Lake, Lake Louise & Banff in another post, but the drive from Banff to Invermere was both beautiful and creepy.
We followed the Kootenay River on the way out of Banff, and it still had the beautiful turquoise colour for a good chunk of the way. It was so nice to have a bit more time with the beautiful, beautiful water, especially since we travelled through the Rockies fairly quickly.
It was, after all, the driving reason behind doing this whole roadtrip in the first place.
Shortly after, the beautiful Kootenay River view turned into what looked like an eerie tree graveyard. Kilometres and kilometres of trees burnt down to their spindly little trunks. All the way from the road to the tops of the mountains. The destruction was heartbreaking, but also magical to see the new growth amongst it all. I tried so hard to take a picture that captured it well, but you know how it is – nothing beats seeing it with your own two eyes!
Overall, it was a big day and we covered a lot of ground, but it was 100% worth it. BUT by the time we rolled up to Copper Point, I was ready to collapse into the tub basically asap.
Thankfully, it was like the girl at the front desk could pick up my vibes and she gave us the most darling of rooms complete with a tub. Everything from the check in and getting settled into our room, to dinner at their restaurant Elements, to hot spring recommendations was absolutely lovely.
I didn’t get any pictures of our room (we made too big of a mess too quickly #tiredbloggerproblems) but it was an adorable room with a small kitchenette and ground level patio opening up to beautiful mountain views.
It was actually the first hotel we stayed in this trip that had a wine mini bar – and while I didn’t end up cracking into it, it was great to know the option was there. Oh. And Robes. They had robes and they were heav.en.ly.
THINGS TO DO DURING A WEEKEND IN INVERMERE
The hot springs may have been the reason that brought us to Invermere, but they aren’t the only reason why we plan to come back. This little town is super adorable, and seemed to have so much beauty in such a small range.
Coming into Invermere from Banff, we drove through this majestic rock formation that took my breath away. I loved it so much, that when we were deciding on which hot springs to visit, I chose Radium Hot Springs, since I knew we would get to drive through it again.
In fact, on our way to Radium Hot Springs (which is about 15 minutes away from the hotel), we got to see the coolest wildlife crossing of our whole trip. There must have been nearly 15 mountain goats, all trying to cross the road at the same time. When they got to the other side of the road, each one of them jumped over the barricade one at a time. They might have been holding up traffic, but nobody (including the goats) seemed to be bothered by it at all!
The Radium Hot Springs themselves were incredible. The last time I had visited them, I was probably about 8, so I didn’t have much of a memory of them (although I’m certain they changed quite a bit). Admission was $7.30/adult, and it was a fair price to pay for the facilities. They will be undergoing renovations in the fall, and the pictures of what they will look like when they’re done look amazing. If any of you go after they are complete, please send me pictures – I’d love to see!
There are two pools to choose from at Radium, the hot pool (which is set to 39 degrees) and the ‘cold’ pool (set at 29 degrees). It’s hardly cold, but it is the perfect way to cool down after spending 15-20 minutes in the hot pool. We spent a whole afternoon hopping between the two, and if we hadn’t gotten so hungry, we probably would have stayed longer. Which brings me to…..
WHERE TO EAT IN INVERMERE
I didn’t get any pictures, but we ate at Elements, at Copper Point Resort a few times and it was absolutely delicious every time. They have great gluten free and dairy free options, and all of the servers are so personable and know the menu inside and out.
We also ate at Spice Me Up right down town, and we checked out the most adorable bakery, which was located just down the street from it.
There’ll be more posts added about our trip in the upcoming weeks – so stay tuned! If you have any questions in the meantime, hit that comment box below and I’ll share what I know!
love + light,
