Creative Activities for Adults During Quarantine | Etsy Highlights
It’s true, we really are in unprecedented times these days and by the looks of things, we’ll be spending a lot more time indoors (aka send all of the ideas for creative activities for adults that you can find). With many storefronts closed, big box stores being overly busy and Amazon only shipping out essentials, it’s never been more convienient to support small businesses. Which is great news, because these small businesses are the ones that need our outpouring love and support as we all navigate these uncertain times.
So, when I finally started getting a bit bored, I went directly to the small shops I know and love for a few new craft ideas and inspiration. Along the way, I found a handful of amazing craft kits for adults – so naturally, I’m sharing the best ones I found here. If you are looking for something to keep your creativity going, learning a new skill or just wanting to pass the time, one of these creative activities/kits just might do the trick!

Here we go! Are you ready to get inspired?!
Blanc Laine | Weaving Kit + Loom for Beginners
I’m not going to lie, when I first starting considering weaving as a possible new craft to try, this loom kit immediately caught my eye. I’m a sucker for good design and this colour palette is a beaut (although there are 4 others to choose from as well). It comes with yarn and a few different weights of fibres, and all the equipment you need to finish a beautiful wall hanging. Then when you’re done, you now have the loom needed to make other beautiful pieces using youtube tutorials like this one or this one. If you like Blanc Laine, you can also check out their punch embroidery DIY kits as well – and pick up new fibre materials at the same time.
Sparkling Craft Box | DIY Dutch Paint Pouring Kit
I have been wanting to try a dutch/acrylic pour painting for forever! Well, at least since I started getting mesmerized by the pouring videos on Instagram. They are so beautiful to watch. I love that this kit is so beautifully packaged, and comes with everything you need to make a beautiful piece of art, right down to the instructions and paper cups. This exact kit is sitting in my cart right now, and I can’t wait to give it a try.
Tribal Home Macrame | Hanging Macrame DIY Kit
I’ve completed a few macrame pieces in the past, all of which were done in classes where everything was supplied for me. After one of the classes, I bought a spool of rope, determined to make more once I got home. That rope sat collecting dust for 2 years because I couldn’t find a suitable stick. It’s clear that when I’m picking up a new skill, full DIY kits that make it easy are kind of key for me (lol). This kit is my favourite macrame DIY kits because it’s so different. It comes with everything you need to make the hanging piece shown, even the fun mustard colour details! If you’re feeling brave once you’re done, check out this pattern and this one for fun and different patterns to try next.
Yolanda Craft Gifts | Cactus Beginner Embroidery Kit
Can you believe that I’ve never tried embroidery? In all of my crafting years, embroidery always intimidated me – so many different colours, so many wrong places to put the needle and thread (lol). These cool cats over at Yolanda Craft Co basically read my mind, and they included everything you need in the kit, including linen with the patterns already printed on them so no counting is necessary. I’m sure my willingness to count stitches will come later, but for now, this is perfect! These other kits they have here and here are also adorable options.
Prairie Minimalist | DIY Beeswax Wrap Kits
I love that this is such an affordable, practical and eco-friendly kit – and good for crafters of all levels! I have these lunch pack bags that I love and it would be so fun to be able to make a few more colourful ones as well. If you haven’t tried using beeswax wraps yet, you’re in for a real treat. They keep food fresh so much longer than plastic wrap or paper bags!
I hope I’ve given you a few good ideas for creative activities for adults. We deserve to spend a little of this time exploring and getting creative as well, and sometimes DIY kits just make it that much easier for everyone.
The most amazing thing about the Etsy community, is that many of them operate from the comfort of their own home – which means they (like myself) are able to continue working and shipping items and send beautiful things right to your door.
That’s the great thing about shopping small, we are all working super hard to deliver on the things you’re looking for, even when things get a little rough. So this spring (and summer, and next year, and on) I encourage you to #standwithsmall and help all us keep moving forward little by little.
