Building a Great Market Display | Craft Market Inspiration

This past week, I took part in what feels like my 482,720,485th artisan market. Somehow, though, deciding on a booth concept never seems to get any easier. I feel like I’m constantly googling for market display inspiration! I joke around with my market family that we all have these ever-evolving booths, that change with every market we do! It’s usually dependent on whether we have a corner booth, if there’s pipe and drape, or if you are in Chilliwack and are familiar with the Heritage Park venue, you know you could have a giant angled poll/beam in the middle of your booth! It’s all in the fun though, right?!
Since I’m a sign maker, I constantly struggle with finding ways to create height, or a wall like structure that suits my products. It also needs to be one-woman friendly, since I’m usually by myself for market set up and take downs. It’s a challenge for sure, but I’ve done a lot of research and brainstormed a lot of ideas over the years!
I thought I would share a few of my favourite inspiration pictures here with you all, in the hopes that they might help you with a few ideas of your own for the upcoming spring and summer market season. Note these are not my photos, but ones I particularly liked and ones that inspired me to create my own layered setup! Here goes!

I am in love with the idea of using benches and other furniture on top of tables for height. And that garden trellis! What a great idea!
I had thought crates were a thing of the past, but it appears they are alive and well! I love the idea of stacking them right on top of the table. Especially for those markets when all you have is a 8×3 table!
These board/walls always catch my eye when I’m out shopping at a market. You know me and woodworking + industrial = love love love
Another beautifully built display piece that was likely custom made for Barber & Co. Again with the woodworking + industrial, I know. I’m willing to bet this stunning piece folds right up and is easy to transport too. Genius!
A local Vancouver favourite of mine, Kismet luxury bath products are to-die-for. And they also know how to show off their entire line in one simple look. Love their use of simple + raw crates to let their products shine. PS. Did you know we carry their coffee scrub in the shop? You can add it to any order to make the perfect gift!
There’s something to be said about truly minimal booth displays. I am totally drawn to the clean lines and small amounts of decor here. It really draws me in, and likely only attracts this brand’s people. Which is kind of the whole point, isn’t it?
Another great clean + simple idea, using raw and natural wooden risers to show off just one of each of their products. This would work well with a lot of my small pieces that I truly want to shine, without getting lost in everything else. Or our new water bottles would look great in this type of display as well.
These ladder shelves are perfect for a table display, and I love how she used the space in between as well. What a great way to display her bibs, instead of having them all lay flat on the table in front of her.
Folding tables are create, but true tables or desks create a whole new look. I love how her stock is in matching crates, tucked just under her table. The bare wood keeps with her brand instead of covering it up with a white tablecloth!
Another great example of using a long bench or a riser to create another freestanding shelf on a table. Creates a whole new look by raising those bags up!
Signage is super important for your display, and it always seems to be the last thing I think about when planning. Like it’s an afterthought. I love how this one just ties or attaches to the pipe that creates a clear border around her display!
