A few years ago, when I (briefly) went back to work full time, I knew I needed to spruce up my desk and make it my own if I was ever going to feel comfortable there.
I mean, up until that point, I was used to working at home, surrounded by my own things, my photos, my music, soft lighting and…. direct sunlight! Oh that directly sunlight (can you tell I’m so glad to be back working from home again!?).
Anyways, I digress. Back then, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest, shopping some of my favourite online shops, and browsing local stores like Homesense and Winners, hoping I would finding the perfect decor that would match my personality. You know, cute and cheerful, but still looking like it came right out of a Chip & Joanna house, and not a dollar store. I didn’t think I was asking too much, but if you’ve ever looked for chic desk decor like me, you know there isn’t much out there past the realm of acrylic staples.
Sidenote, who ever thought that a right angled stapler would make a great office tool clearly has never been an admin assistant for longer that 2 days. Hands up for all those who agree!
While I did find some adorable picture frames and organization trays, I never did find any cheerful decor that wasn’t too big, or too tacky for a workspace. I’m a pretty excellent researcher, and no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t find any cute and uplifting desk decor.
So the inevitable happened, and I was determined to make a collection of my own that looked exactly like what I needed for my very own desk. After a few great bottles of wine, a few nights in the garage testing our various sizes (before the wine, don’t worry) I finally settled on what we have so cheesily named…..
For Those of You Who Need an Uplifting Desk Plant That’s Impossible to Kill!
There are 10 designs in the collection all together, and each one is meant to uplift and inspire mamas, boss babes, long distance families, students in the middle of exam weeks, or anyone else currently facing just too much of an uphill battle.
Each design is available in either light brown, dark brown, gray or ebony. They all measure 5.5×5.5 inches and are two inches thick so they are all free standing. That means they work great on desks, but also on shelving units, coffee tables, entryways, etc. Pretty much anywhere you (or someone you know) needs a little extra love or happiness in their life.
We also made this collection easy to ship, and they fit perfectly into our mailers just like our other hanging signs. Since so many of our shoppers are online and live all over Canada and the US, we’ve been having so much fun sending lots of these to their long distance loved ones as surprise gifts! They are the perfect gift and reminders to others that they are loved, they are missed and they are awesome. Whether they live around the block, or around the wold.
I mean, it’s kind of like getting a greeting card in the mail, but a) way cooler and b) it’s something they won’t be tossing away anytime soon. It’s kind of awesome, right?
